I discovered that I dislike thunderstorms more than vinyl floors!!! Joan and George tell me not to worry, that it will pass but I'm not so sure about that. I did follow Joan all around the kitchen and never even gave the floors a thought!! So I guess every cloud has a silver lining!!! I didn't get to go to the Waldorf Meet N Greet and I was very upset with George for taking Andy and Angel but not me!!! Joan thinks I may have a thing called separation anxiety but not real back. So anyway, on Sunday I got to go to my first Meet N Greet in Leonardtown!! One of the very tall volunteers called Clint said I was a greyt Meet N Greet dog cause I like people so much. I had so much fun with all the other greys there, there must have been about ten. Today I got to go to the vet to get my nails cut, I don't really like it and when George comes with the clippers I get all nervous and try to run away, so he took me to Dr. Melanies new office and had Kathy trim my nails....she was very nice but I was still a little scared. Funny thing though, they have hardwood floors and I was walking all over the place without a problem. Then when we got back home George said it was time I tried the b i g s t a i r s!! He gave me a little push and I went right up the 15 stairs to the top without stopping!! There are a lot of rooms up there to explore too!!! After about ten minutes George said it's time to go back down so I very slooowwly went back down. George and Joan were so happy with me that I got a treat!!! So I have had a very exciting time since I last spoke to you.

Hi there, it's me Ripley!! I can't believe I'm still here with George and Joan. They are real nice and treat me special but they have their own pups and don't really need another one! I have been doing real well but I want my own special people to love! Do you know someone who has carpeting and no other pets who would let me live with them? Oh, don't get me wrong, I like other cats and dogs but I would prefer to be an only dog! I am really good in the house and never ever have accidents. Just put a dog bed in the bedroom and living room and I will be forever grateful. I'm getting better at stairs too, up to five now!! I just get kind of nervous going up and down cause it is harder to balance on three legs then four. I can still run pretty fast though! Well anyway I have to go now to take my after dinner nap. Now that I finally got George to teach me how to blog I will be back more often!!

Meet Ripley!

Hi All, my name is Ripley!

I’m a 5 & 1/2 year old fawn boy. The folks at GEGR are keeping their promise and are assisting me in my search for a forever home.

Couple of years ago I had an accident in Turn 1 of my last race. Everyone tried to save my leg, but you know stuff happens. Anyway, my missing rear leg fits someone’s description of being "special needs." Well, I always knew I was special. Heck, I’m a Greyhound. By definition I’m special!

I've been in one home or another since the Fall of 2006, but they didn't work out for various reasons, none of which were my fault. My new folks, George and Joan (I think someone said foster something or other), have given me a place to hang until my forever family finds me. It’s pretty nice here and they have a couple of really cool Greys to keep me company. They tell me I’m way fortunate because George and Joan know Greys inside and out. They also say I couldn’t be in better hands. While I really like it here, I’d like a family of my very own.

I heard Mr. George say I do have some special needs. He said I’m going to need:
~ A dog-savvy family that has strong K-9 leadership qualities (sometimes I’m grumpy) but I’ll happily do whatever you ask after I get to know you.
~ A home that only has one level. I can’t do many stairs, but I can do a ramp, wha-hoo I get a running start!
~ A home that has carpeting or throw rugs; I really don’t like slippery floors. **YIKES!**
~ A family that will love me and care for me for the rest of my life.

GEGR says that if you think you'd like to give me a shot at a forever home, please fill out an application and ask for me by name. If things go well they’ll bring me out to your home for a visit. I’m sure George and Joan will be along to tell you more about me and give you to give updates on me. For now, Wha-Hoo, I'm living the good life in Southern Maryland!
